General joinery: skirtings, architraves, doors, windows, banisters, decking.

Not every joinery job is a full kitchen or a media wall. Most of what I get asked for through the year is smaller and just as important to get right: skirting and architrave through a whole house after a refurb, an internal door that's been dragging on the carpet for years, a banister that's come loose, a window board, a run of decking out the back, or a floor of LVT to finish it off — flooring's the bit of joinery I enjoy most.

It's the finishing joinery that a lot of bigger jobs skip past or rush, and it's the difference between a room that looks refurbished and one that looks like the last trade left before it was finished. I scribe skirting to a wall that isn't straight rather than caulking a gap, hang doors so they close without being lifted, and fit a banister that doesn't move when you lean on it.

I do this on its own, and I do it as the last stage of bigger jobs: a knocked-through kitchen needs new architrave where the old doorway was, a rewired house needs skirting lifted and refitted around every socket. Either way it's priced on request once I know the scope, because a single door is a different job to a whole house of skirting.
