A bathroom is five trades in a room the size of a cupboard. A normal firm sends a plumber on Monday, a tiler on Wednesday if he's free, a plasterer between them, a joiner for the boxing-in, then a decorator, and the job takes three weeks with gaps you can't use the bathroom in. I do the lot, in order, one after the other, and you get your bathroom back in five to eight days.
The thing that separates a bathroom that lasts from one that leaks into the kitchen ceiling is what's behind the tiles. I tank every shower area with a liquid membrane, use cement board rather than plasterboard where it gets wet, and build the floor rigid enough that the tanking doesn't crack. The Scawsby renovation on this site is an example of a bathroom done this way, as part of a combined kitchen and bathroom job.
Electrics and gas are the two things I don't do myself; I have an electrician and a Gas Safe engineer I've worked with for years and they slot in for the half day they're needed. You still deal with me.
from £4,450
Typically 5–8 days on site
What moves the price:
- Size and layout: moving the toilet or the shower to another wall means more plumbing and floor work
- Tiles: the m² of tiling and the format. Large-format porcelain floor-to-ceiling is more than half-height metro
- Wet room or shower tray: a level-access wet room is more floor work but it's the best thing you'll do
- What you supply: the £4,450 assumes you buy the suite, tiles and brassware; I can supply them if you'd rather
Design and price
You pick the suite and tiles (I'll point you at suppliers and come with you if you like). I measure, draw the layout, and give you a fixed price.

How much does a bathroom refit cost in Doncaster?
From £4,450 for labour and installation materials on a standard family bathroom with you supplying the suite and tiles. A typical mid-range job with large-format tiles and a walk-in shower is £7,000 to £9,000.
How long will I be without a bathroom?
Five to eight working days. I'll leave you a working toilet overnight wherever it's physically possible, and I'll tell you before I start on the days it isn't.
Do you do wet rooms?
Yes, and they're my preference on a first floor if the floor's done properly: doubled joists, marine ply, a former with the falls built in, and tanking over the whole floor rather than the shower corner alone.
Can you do the electrics and plumbing too?
Plumbing yes, all of it. Electrics are done by my electrician, who certifies the work. Gas by a Gas Safe engineer. Both are included in the price and the schedule; you don't have to find them.
One person accountable, start to finish.
I'm Jack. I price it, I'm on the tools for it, and it's my name on it. Twelve years on site, a first-class degree in construction management, SMSTS and First Aid, and I operate the excavator myself. Where a job wants more hands I bring in people I've worked with for years and I run them. I cover Doncaster and everywhere within about half an hour of it: Bessacarr, Bawtry, Tickhill, Armthorpe, Thorne, Sprotbrough, Mexborough and over into Rotherham. More about me.
