The job
A full refit in Maltby. Strip out to bare walls and floor, then everything back in by me over five days: plumbing, joinery, tanking, tiling, fitting and decorating. Five days rather than three weeks because there's no waiting on the next trade to be free.
What I did
The layout the customer wanted meant the soil pipe had to be re-routed, which is the job that quietly decides whether a bathroom can be laid out the way you actually want it or has to be built around where the pipe already is. Joists were dealt with before anything went on top of them, so the floor was rigid enough that the tanking wouldn't crack later.
Then the whole wet area tanked, tiled, sanitaryware and brassware fitted, silicone, and the room decorated.
Supplying it
I took a brief off the customer on what they were after and then supplied the lot myself from a few different suppliers, rather than sending them round showrooms with a list. That's included in the price. If you'd rather buy your own suite and tiles, that's fine too and it comes off the figure.
Cost and time
£6,500 including everything I supplied, five days on site, one person throughout.

My own house, back to brick, Scawsby
The rental I bought in Scawsby and took back to brick myself: new water main, new kitchen, bathroom and toilet knocked into one, bedroom, pantry, landing and garden. Every trade done by me on evenings and weekends around a forty-hour week, with friends and family mucking in on the stripping out.

A tired garden fence in Scawsby replaced end to end: old posts and panels out, new posts concreted in, closeboard panels up straight and square.
