Old fitted wardrobes and cupboards, taken out properly.
Fitted wardrobes and built-in cupboards removed in Doncaster from £180. Old melamine or dated built-in storage taken out and the wall or alcove made good, ready for redecorating or a new fit.
Not every wardrobe job is a new fit. Plenty are the opposite: an old melamine wardrobe set nobody wants any more, a built-in cupboard blocking a chimney breast, a run of dated storage you want gone before the room gets redecorated or a new wardrobe goes in. That's a removal job, and it's a lot smaller and cheaper than a fit.
The wardrobe or cupboard comes out, carcass and all, along with any fixings left in the wall. Then the wall or alcove gets made good: filled, skimmed if it needs it, ready for paint or for whoever's fitting the new one. If there's a stud wall or partition that was only there to box the wardrobe in, I can take that out too and open the room up properly.
Because I'm also a plasterer and decorator, I can take the room straight on to redecorated if you want, rather than leaving you with a bare patch to sort yourself.
from £180
Typically half–1 day on site
What moves the price:
- How many wardrobes or cupboards, and how big
- Whether it's just the unit coming out or a stud wall with it
- How much making good the wall needs — a skim patch versus a full replaster
- Whether you want it decorated afterwards as part of the same job
Strip out
Doors, shelves and carcass removed piece by piece rather than levered out, so the wall behind it isn't damaged any more than it has to be.
Make good
Old fixings out, the wall or alcove filled and skimmed where needed, skirting reinstated or scribed in.
Finish
Left ready to paint, or decorated as part of the same job if you want it finished, not just cleared.
How much does it cost to remove a fitted wardrobe?
From £180 for a single wardrobe or cupboard, taken out and the wall made good ready for paint. A full room of built-in storage, or a stud wall coming out with it, is more — send photos for a fixed price.
Will it damage the wall?
Some patching is normal wherever the carcass was screwed in; that's included. If the plaster behind is in poor shape generally, I'll tell you before starting rather than after.
Can you fit a new wardrobe or built-in storage afterwards?
I don't build fitted wardrobes any more — flooring and general joinery are where I focus now — but I'm happy to point you to someone good who does, or fit simpler open shelving as part of the same visit.
How long does it take?
Usually half a day for one wardrobe including making good; a full room is a day.
One person accountable, start to finish.
